RECENT Libya visa?

Have been dealing with a couple of agencies re: getting my Libyan visa sorted.

After sending details (passport number, parent's maiden names, etc etc) they've gone cold on me. Not sure why, but need to be sorted ASAP.

I will be at the border 2nd week in May at the very latest (if I bum around Tunisia for a fortnight exploring the Chott and playing on the bike).

Anyone RECENTLY dealt with efficient, reliable people? I need a contact who will pull their finger out and get it done.

Cheers.

I know, "not ANOTHER bloody Libyan visa thread!"

had an interesting chat with kalifa of Visa and Translating services who informed me that the 45 days visa means that you must ARRIVE in Lybia within 45 days of the issue of the visa and you then have 90 days in the country..this is contrary to everything I have understood ..anyone any thoughts or observations on that??

Visa (tourism purpose) is issued in Libya for one month from the day of arrival and for this you have time 45 days vhithin the date of the issue of the visa . This procedure is adopted and, till now unchanged, since many years.

Budrinna:

I plan to visit Libya this spring (probably mid-May) with my moto, entering at the Tunisian border crossing.

The visa is no problem for me, I have had lots of Libyan business visas before and will have a business visa this time - but what about entering with the moto?

I have heard that it is necessary to get Libyan plates at the border, is this correct?

I have lots of friends in Libya who could meet me at the border and help with the translation, organization, etc. - but I don't know what to expect. Can you advise?

Many thanks.

The visa issued for tourism purposes is a point, another, very different, is the business visa.

With this You are not allowed to circulate as a tourist regardless to Your friends that are responsible of your invitation's letter in the Country . In this case you must be accompanied by them all time otherwise it is a false difficult to explain .

Nevertheless you need plate number at he border and all usual proceedings.

Budrinna:

Thanks very much for pointing out the difference between the business and tourist visa - I was not aware of the 'circulation' restriction, it has never come up before.

Do you think it would present a problem to have two different visas (tourist and business) valid at the same time? Reason I ask is that I will need to do a little business on this 'touristic' trip.

I appreciate your advice.

It is impossible to have the two visas at the same time.

The reason is that whoever ask the entrance in the Country must be invited by some one, private people, official, T.O,ecc that become responsible of whatever problems may arose.

So talk with your friends, wich is prerefable for them , a tourist visas or the businnes one?
As a rule the bussiness visa is issued by companies, the tourist by T.O., in this case the problem is not mainly your, but to your friends that invites you and as to fill the application forms in Libya for the letter of invitation.

Regards Budrinna.
