Rent a 4x4 in marrakesh
Hi all.
Me and 3 friends are going to Marroc in January for a week, flying from Manchester to Marrakesh, staying the for a week, I’ve been in Marroc twice and got a Gps and Ign maps, Michelin map, and pretend to do a little tour to the south from Marrakech and try to do the M6 route on Chris’s book.
So what I would like to know is if anyone got contacts to rent a 4x4 for a week without driver, we have been looking for a Mitsubishi Pagero Lwb, the cheapest one we found was for 840€ for a week from Ramsis ( http://www.net-tensift.com/ramsis/us/4X4.htm ), they’ve asked for a 50% deposit very early, what we didn’t feel very sure.
So anyone got some reliable contacts in Marrakesh to rent a 4x4, and suggestions.
Thanks.

We hired a Land cruiser Prado (the third world type without a turbo) this april in Marrakech. Can't remember who it was from but it doesn't matter anyway. The car was ok except that one of the tyres had three punctures in the past and the gluey bits were hanging out the tyre. On checking I found 10psi in the tyre on arrival at Merzouga. We had specifically asked repeatedly for a vehicle with suitable tyres for the desert but that's Africa for you I suppose. We put a tube in the tyre in Merzouga but I never felt confident enough to take the family on the Merzouga-Zagora piste that we wanted too because of the crap tyres. We did shorter stages instead. We paid £800 ish for 11 days.

well, I hired a Pajero Swb in marrakesh for 7 days back in Nov 2004.
I too, felt uncomfortable with the condition of the tyres, but I only noticed it after I have driven away otherwise I would have complained or gone to a different place.
I paid around GBP 300 for which I had to haggle a bit, but I still think I could have got a better deal if I'd bothered to do some leg work.
There are several places that rent 4x4 in "Mohamet VI" avenue which I think is one of the main roads into the old city..
(at the moment I can't quite remember the name of the hire agency I used.)
good luck
