Sahara Maps/Morocco
Hi folks,
Travelling by camel from M'hamid to Chigagga in September and loooking for info on available maps. Got the Michelin 742, formerly the 959 and the Geocentre/Insight, both are a bit vague as to what happens after M'hamid, in fact neither show Chiggaga. I am sure there are maps out there that cover this bit of the Sahara, any suggestions ?
Happy travels,
Spez

If you look for maps about that area,
search for "US TPC" or "French IGN", both 1:500.000 and the french ones at 1:200.000
Don't ask me to remember which are the right tablet maps...

TPC maps are monsters - Tactical Pilotage Charts - they are physically huge and deal with vast areas. Many of them do not label physical terrain features.
Best topo maps are the UK/US military 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 series produced in the 60s - way out of date for roads etc but excellent for terrain features. Trouble is they are hard to get hold of. Also look for (again, UK/US military) Joint Operations Graphics charts. Again, hard to get, no reliable source, if you are in the UK check out surplus wholesalers or talk nicely to military friends.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
