So much for the 'closed' Moroccan/Algerian border
I was aware that the Moroccan/Algerian border was somewhat leaky, but Moroccan TV was running a news item a couple of nights ago on a customs crackdown on petrol smuggled in from Algeria. The film showed thousands of really dangerous leaking containers carried in on wrecks of cars and trucks that we wouldn't allow out of a scrap yard.
The news item claimed that 30 million litres of fuel was being illegally imported each year. That's the equivalent of more than 4,000 20-litre containers each day!
