The Mysteries of getting a visa for Chad.

I am planning to go to Chad this year (November), and am trying to unravel the mysteries of getting the required Autorisation de Circuler which is required BEFORE I apply for a visa in Brussels.

Does anyone know how the process of getting the visa works? I think I am supposed to send the Formulaire request for the A. de C. to the Ministry of the Interior. (The Formulaire request for the A. de C. only seems to appear on the web site of the Chad Embassy located in Berlin.. Willkommen bei der Botschaft von Tchad )

Although the instructions on that web site say that it is supposed to be sent to the Ministry de Touristique, (and provide an incorrect telephone number !), I have discovered that this may not be the case. The Tchad Embassy in Brussels say that the Formulaire should be sent to The Ministry of the Interior. The fax number for the Ministry of Interior remains unknown to me at this time.

If anyone could help with this confusion on my part that would be fantastic, Thanks.

in 2009 I just wend to Berlin, to their Ambassy, asked for a 6 weeks visa, gave him 50 € took the stamp and left, in NDJ I got it extendet again and again ... no problem ... but there is one big BUT, I was working for a big oil comp ... so the goverment wanted to have me there ...

But the guys in Berlin are super relaxed, if you have the chance just go there, French would help too, anyway there you have to speak French.

But why to go to Chad? Spend there 4 Month, didnt like it that much, actually not at all (except the people) ... Try to avoid the rain season!

good luck!

Thanks

I am not sure how long this requirement for an Autorisation has been there -the date for this information on the Chad Embassy located in Berlin is early 2010. -maybe this Autosisation requirement is new since you travelled there. (Who knows?)

I hope to do some travel by camel in Ennedi and Tibesti -and will go Nov - Jan -not the rainy season. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
