thumbs up for omar!

Just met with Omar in Alexandria, he is a truly nice guy and will help all bikers who come to Egypt. He also did a trip from Cape Town to Alexandria, so he might have valuable information concerning the route or the ferry to Sudan.

Thanks a lot Omar for your tremendous support, the new tyres work just fine. Even we never met before, you treated us like friends and your hospitality was impressive and is rarely seen around Europe. I hope we will see u in Austria when you pass by on your way to the North Cape, we would be happy to have you as a guest an support you in any matter.

Hope you can enjoy riding a bike again real soon,
take care,

Clemens & Elias

So I have arrived in Egypt and after a pretty massive blowout I have managed to get tyres........but what a job.....

The hotel offered but as per usual price was over double (EP3000 - E413) what I could get in UK, then when I came up with money the tyres where not available anymore, basically trying to get commission by looking like they were doing work but not......

Tried Mohammed Anwar, for 5 days never answered his phone (it is Ramadan) then he promised to get back to me never did finally cost of tyres EP2200 E303

By this time I had found a great bloke in Luxor called Anton, his English is good. If you are facing the train station in Luxor, to the left is Cleopatra Street he will be moving very soon to Michelin Shop in that street. His number is +020123151256. He worked to get me the tyres and inner tubes sent from Cairo everything came to EP1650 - E227 including the fitting. He has all the contacts for motorbike and car tyres so give him a shout if you need replacements. Hope this helps any travelers.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
