UK-Maroc-RIM-Mali 2006
Started lurking on this forum almost 2 years ago and got virtually everything I know from it and Chris's book. It was incredibly helpful and confidence boosting, but I bet there are still loads of people out there who, like me were pretty intimidated at the prospect of what turns out to be fairly straightforward in the end. So I have eventually got round to posting details of itinerary, visa and other info on web site:
http://www.nomadintent.com/sahel_2005.htm
If you want to see photos of destinations, either navigate your way back up or go direct to Morocco, Mauritania or Mali pages.
Now I want to go back, but finances dictate otherwise so sadly the wonderful 1990 TLC is for sale, as is all the specialist gear for the trip...offers?

Sorry, I forgot to say: big thank you to everybody on this site (and Chris in particular) without whom I probably would still have gone, but with whose advice and info I felt a lot more comfortable. The FCO site would have had me believe it was all sand dunes from NDB to NKT and that the RIM/Mali border was heaving with terrorists, bandits and other undesirables; reports from you guys who were actually on the spot were rather more credible. So thanks again and all the best to you who are still trying to pluck up the courage, collect the money, get the time off work...

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
