Confirm that getting the visa for Mauritani at the borderisnot a problemat all. 50 euro for 15 days, 4300 local currency for 10days insurance and 10 euro for handling. However the visa at the Mauritania embassy in Rabat cost only 20 euro.

If you want to stay longer you can prolong it at the police offices in Nouadhibou or Nouakchott. Probably also in Rosso, Kiffa or any other major city in the country. This will cost you another €40. But nevertheless its cheaper than for instance in Brussels where you have to pay €93,75 for a one entry visit and have to present a lot of documents. Although my multiple entree came with a one year period in wich I can visit the country up to 180 days.
Thank you very much for this info.
Now we need confirmation from someone who actually crossed the Morocco-Mauritania border after the 5 kms no-man's-land and tell us it is went smoothly or not...

We crossed the Morocco-Mauri border three days ago and got the visa there without problems. Trip report will follow (the negative novelties were at the Mauri-Mali border).

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
