western sahara to Noadhibou, Mauritania
I was all set on a trip through algeria into niger, lets just hope I can take the other option through the sahara...
once I get to Dakhla though, how easy would it be to find transport into mauritania and on? - I don't have my own vehicle.
do I need to find someone willing to give me a lift in their 4WD (how easy is this going to be in JULY?!)
or are their any taxis/trucks I could get a lift in?

I will be in much the same situation as you, in Morocco without own transport, looking for a ride into Mauritania--except I will be there in early august. What I have been told is to check out the camppground in Dakhla and ask for people who are planning to head towards Mauritania. I have also been told to try this near the Maur Embassy in Rabat/Casa where you must apply for the visa to get into Maur. I dont know if this helps, but maybe.
Perhaps I will see you in Maur, good luck and happy trails.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
