accomodation help needed in San Diego

Need some assistance!
Check out our website at Website Template -
We have been traveling for nearly 6 months and are preparing for the ride south into Mexico and Central America. Unfortunately we are being held up as we clear up details with the INS (Darren is a green card holder). We will need to remain in San Diego for another week. Can anyone in the area offer accomodation to two homeless motorcyclists for a few days? We have secured a place to stay until Sunday, but our earliest appointment with the INS is on Thursday.
Any & All help is much appreciated!

While not the ideal situation, there a evacuation centers open in San Diego becasue of the fires. If all else fails, I assume you could at least use them as a place to sleep as long as you aren't taking up space for people who lost their homes and are really in need...

thanks!

Yeah - the fires have been pretty devastating here. The campgrounds are all full and the hotels are too expensive for our budget. But we have been lucky to find a few folks who were not effected by the fire and have extra space for us.
We didn't expect this delay at all - since we left Altanta, the INS has changed the requirements of Darren's leave from the US to include a biometrics exam- typical beaurocratic BS...
Anyhow - I think we have found a solution, but I will post when I am certain.

Thanks again!

Casey

Update

We have recieved a couple of offers to help us while we get things worked out here. I am always amazed at the strong community of motorbike travelers this website produces! It is truly invaluable to the traveler on the road!
Thanks again for all the offers and messages of support!

Jeeze, are you guys STILL in the US?? Thought you'd be well south by now. You should try contacting the Communities on Horizons, it worked pretty well for us re accommodation, at least for North America anyways.

Good luck with it all and say hi to Darren!

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
