Well, after all the advice I've heard and heeded, I went and got attacked by a bear a couple of days ago. I was camping out near Stewart, BC, and got a rude awakening at 5 in the morning with a black bear on my head. I had all my food stored away and all the rest of it, was in a public campground, first time I'd actually felt safe camping out in a while. Anyway, the bear had gotten onto my tent and was on my face when I woke up. I gave it a punch, came out of the tent with a knife and it ran away. I'm all good, just a wee bruise on my head, tent is a bit messed up though. Well, I wanted an Alaskan experience, so there you go (even if it was in Canada).
Moral of the story; Bear spray isn't the key, showering a bit more often may be...
