Australians touring North America
My wife and I and our bike (2011 Yamaha Super Tenere) will be arriving in Portland Or. for a 10 week tour. We will be riding two up and are looking for any advise, suggestions etc. for our journey.
We will be travelling north up the Sea to Sky Highway then on the Casiar highway. We will be staying in Hyder Alaska for a few days then onto Fairbanks.
Our return will be on the Taylor highway, Top of World Highway, Campbell Highway to Watson Lake B.C. We will then plan to take small northern highways across Canada and circle the Great lakes with a visit to Wisconsin. Then down to New Orleans and back to Portland via Arkansas and New Mexico.
We have estimated about 25,000 km. in 10 weeks.
Look forward to any feedback and suggestions anyone may have.
Also was wondering if a side trip to Haines Alaska would be worth it.

Sounds like a good trip - lot of distance for a 2 up ride in 10 weeks though.
If you can squeeze it do Yellowstone and Yosemite and have some time in BC.

We did the two national parks last time we did a tour, we did about 15,000km
in 5 weeks on our Kawasaki Vulcan vn2000. We will decide if we will head to New Orleans once we reach Wisconsin, we may skip that part of the ride and head west through the upper states. Thanks for the feedback.

- I owe a lot of favors to those who have helped me out as I traveled the world, so if I can pay some back by being of assistance let me know. I am north of Portland 70 miles, (we are still in the stone age here and have not got to kilometers yet). I could collect you at the airport and help get bike sorted, If you are shipping a crated bike we could put it on the pickup haul to my shop so you have a crate to put it in to ship back. At least stop by on your way north we always have a place to camp and normally a bed. As I said I owe a lot of people around the world and the only way I can pay them back is to pass it on so don't be shy, let me know what you need on this end because I know how much it helps to have someone on the other end.
- Bob

Hi jefferyG.
If you needing info or a place to stop on your way through New Mexico let us know. We live just outside of Albuquerque (east side). We love talking to others about their adventures travelling and sharing what we know of the area.
Safe and happy riding

Our trip around North America has begun, our Super Tenere has arrived in Portland and with some valuable help from another Hubb member(bobcat) it is fitted out and ready for our 11 week ride.
We had some great weather on our ride up to Vancouver and were glad to get out of the cities for awhile.
We rode up the Sea to Sky which gave me a chance to see how the bike handled with all the camping gear and my wife on the curves up into the mountains.
We then started three days of rain and cold riding up into B.C. Temperatures were well under 50f and we rain into some extreme wind and hail along the way.
We are now in Hyder Alaska and had a great ride up the cassias. The weather was great, the roads were smooth with lots of curves, very little traffic, snow covered mountains on either side and lots of wild life.
We will be heading up towards Whitehorse and fairbanks next with a side trip down to Haines.
Looking tot catch up with others on the way.

Aussie Riders
Greetings and great to hear from you. We are house sitting in Maple Valley just south of Seattle until the 15th August then will make our way up to Canada hoping to do the Nakusp BC H U Meeting before heading across to Montana and down through Glacier N P, Colorado, Utah and Arizona by the 20th September... house sitting again. Traveling a little quicker than usual. The AZ house is our base in the USA so maybe this could be the rendezvous location. Keep in touch.. Cheers and enjoy the ride... K & C
