Florida info please...
Hello all
Just need some up-to-date info on Florida.....I am thinking of shipping my uk reg bmw into Georgia on the WW roll-on, roll off service.......just need to know what paperwork I will need to get the bike in and keep it in the US for a few weeks before heading south. The alternative is not ship and buy in the us, paperwork needed to buy a bike in another state, then register it in Florida......looking to move on this in a few short weeks, so thanks for recent personal info regarding this.....I am on a visitors visa, uk national, by the way.

Florida
For the paper of the imported bike it will be the same everywhere in the US , Florida have a no mandatory insurance but many other state ask for it . Buying a bike in Florida is easy but getting a title without been a local (Florida driver license and address ) is very difficult to do , a dealer maybe able to bypass paper work but it will be better to import your bike .Most of the time what you will need is a title without lien or with a letter from the lien holder giving you the right to take it abroad , if you want to go south to mexico they will ask you for insurance ( sanborn is cheap )

non-us residents may import a vehicle for free for up to one year, however it cannot be sold. the shipper should be able to tell you what forms you are going to need. of course, you will need your title, especially if you're heading to latin america. most countries will not accept registrations or even copies of your title.
as for buying here, you can get a title fairly quickly. i'm pretty sure miami-dade county has expedited title service, meaning you'll get it in your hand the same day. it will require you spending some time in the office but it can be done.
same for registration and license tag. you will need a foreign driver license and your passport. you will also need a local address though not necessarily YOUR address. pm me for details.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
