Insurance for US and Canada...
Allright, I know that Progressive is an insurance company that SHOULD insure us, but for one reason or another they are not willing to do it since we will arrive in Canada first before entering the US.
We will phone with them to enquire further but the guy I chatted with through their online chat system was really not helpful at all... He told me like 3 times to just call...
So, I would like to know if anybody else has had this problem, or if you have another solution. I can use an US address so that's not a problem, but for Canada apparently you need another card that states that you are insured.
Anyway, I am looking for a 6 month insurance that would cover both the US and Canada for a 4WD, Belgian plates, Belgian driver and International driver licence.
Any thoughts/help?
Thanks!

Hi Seb,
Try Temporary USA Motorcycle Insurance
I do not know if they insure cars, but as a foreigner, I did not have any problems to get my bike insured to US and Canada for 6 months via these guys.

We used this comapany, best priced one I could find.
Overseas Visitors
They were able to offer us recurring insurance at 3 month intervals for a year.
The problem we had with motorcycle express is that their policy was for a maximum of 6 months and then they would be able to issue another policy.
EDIT: Just realise you're looking for 4x4 insurance rather than bike. I'll leave the details in tho incase it helps someone else.

Thank you guys.
But we are indeed looking for a 4WD this time... ;-)
In the meantime I had a decent contact with Progressive and they are ok with the insurance for the car for both USA and Canada.
So we should be fine!

Also see Motorcycle Express, they've been advertising with us forever, and have always done a great job for people. They'll even give a discount if you say Horizons Unlimited. Ad on this page, or in the links section.

Yes, but they dont' do cars....
Had to go expensive as Canada won't insure a Car/van/... if it doesn't have a Canadian license plate on it. We found a company based in Germany that can insure us for both Canada and the USA (not for bikes, but for vans/motorhomes)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
