Las vegas car storage
Hello,

I'm looking for my overland vehicle storage in Las Vegas for 10 month from 23 August. I have find lot of them but they dont have options to run the engine one in month and charge the battery. Have any idea ??

Recommend to forget running the engine, arguably it does more harm than good as it will never gets fully warmed up, and leaves lots of condensation behind to cause rust. Ideally, do a fresh oil change then park it, disconnect the battery, and plan on buying a new one when you return. IF there is a plug available next to your vehicle put it on a small battery tender, but only if your battery is relatively new and worth the additional risk / aggravation.

Grant's right... as someone who leaves their bike in a garage for six months of every year (and have done it with no tender and in an unheated garage before) - your vehicle will be fine, especially in a warm and dry climate like Las Vegas. If the battery is an old-style one, putting it on a wall charger for a 24 hour deep cycle should bring it back to reasonable life. A new-fangled lithium battery won't even notice the 10 months.

It can be more complicated than this. If your battery goes dead it will freeze at 32F/0C, which means the end of that battery. That's one good reason to keep at least some sort of charge on it. Freezing temps are not the norm in Las Vegas, but they do happen--more so on the desert outside of town.

On the other hand, if it's a non-maintenance-free battery (the old sort which requires checking cells and topping them up), it can easily go dry in a low-humidity environment like Las Vegas. That's worth being aware of, too.

Needless to say, I've had both happen at one time or another. Sometimes it's easier to find a place to plug in a battery if you take it out of the vehicle. If it's maintenance-free, just put it somewhere reliably temperate until you return for it. You don't know anyone in Las Vegas who'll let you park in their living room, but you can probably find someone who'll let you stash a battery behind their couch. Try contacting the HUBB community there or just asking here.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your answer. Yes I know it is better not the run the engine if you dont run it on work temperatures but if you have a trusted guy then is ok. However, the car is also ventilated at the same time. I have two new red optima battery and I hope they will endure. Last two year I have store the car in Mexicali in one of the best warehouse and they spoiled me.
