Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a cheap/good place to stay for a few days in Anchorage? I'll fly in on june 1st, my bike a few days earlier.
Just need a few days to get the bike from the crate, sleep off the jetlag and enjoy Anchorage.

tnx.

If you have a tent, you can camp free at the Harley Davidson dealer in Anchorage - no matter what kind of bike you have.

Try the hostels, they were pretty cheap. Can't remember the name of the one we stayed in but just google it and you'll find a few.

Try a University

The University of Alaska may allow you to stay in one of their dorm rooms for a low cost and Spartan accommodations. The only factor is this may not be allowed during the active semesters.

It is and option and here are some contact information.

Maybe they would embrace a over-lander and you could share travel experiences with them.

Another option is join CouchSurfing . Once you are verified you can stay with people with in the network. I think there are other motorcyclist among them.

Please PM me with your email. I am going to look at other forums for available contacts which I can forward back to you.

All the best

If you head towards Fairbanks

The University of Alaska at Fairbanks offers lodging. The Residence Manager sent you an email via your Blog address.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
