Mechanical HELP needed in Austin, TX

ATTN: Austin riders

I am currently on route to TDF from A2, MI. I've run into some suspension and oil leak/valve issues in Austin. I have the replacements parts in hand that I had shipped to a friend's house, along with a little knowhow and some of the necessary tools to perform the repairs. However, I am having second thoughts about doing them myself as I have yet to reach Mexico. Ideally, I'd like to have the bike up to spec before I get to the border. If anyone out there has some availability and would be willing to lend me hand, I'd greatly appreciate it. Alternatively, if someone can recommend an affordable shop here in Austin that'd be open to teaching me a few things; I'm also on a real tight budget and did not foresee running into these problems so soon. I'd prefer to work through these issues with someone as I believe it is a great learning opportunity for both parties. Not to mention that it makes for a better story and cooler adventure! I look forward to hearing back from y'all. Thanks for your time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Success!!!

I found a local Austinite-ADVrider who's been very helpful and informative. I couldn't of asked for anyone better. We installed a new progressive rear shock and are making the necessary valve adjustments. Hopefully the oil leak will subside once the new gasket is in place. Thanks for all y'alls support!

Ride on.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
