need new tyres

Assuming my bike is fixed tomorrow, I`ll be heading for the Yukon. Can anyone recommend a good place to get some new tyres (metzler tourances preferably)? I`ve heard that good places are few and far between. Is it true?

Cheers

Tires in the US are cheaper than in Canada so the first place I'd ask if the dealership where your bike is currently getting fixed. Northern prices are generally higher for all bike related stuff so I wouldn't imagine that the prices will be great, but I doubt you will find much better.

Cheapest option is to buy online and have them sent up to the US, but you need to be in the state for a while to wait for shipping time. Shipping into Canada is a bit costlier and time consuming, but still is cheaper than buying from a dealer.

Here's one of the places you can try in the US.

Welcome to Southwest Moto Tires

Other option if you want to burn some more tread is Whitehorse, couple of bike shops in town that change a lot of tires and are very friendly. Can't remember what a rear Tourance in Canada costs, but it is significantly more.

Try Yukon Yamaha to see what they are asking for a tire.

Good riding, if you are heading down south and are looking for a place to stay, drop me a line.

Assuming you are in or near Anchorage The Motorcycle Shop or Alaska Leather are both good options for tires.

Thanks everybody! I think I`ve enough tread to reach Whitehorse. I`ll try Yukon Yamaha.

Hi Mountain Man,

I am heading south, probably via Vancouver way. Where are you based?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
