Viking Settlement worth a look
Not sure what month you are going Rich, but it had better be soon, because believe me that north wind can be cold and bring fog in. But if you can, get up above St Anthony (they have a nice hospital there, the rotunda is worth a look, I had time while recovering from a crash as an inpatient), the Viking settlement at L'Ainse aux Medow is worth a look. Check if still open late in season though. Lots of moose that far up too.
The fare from Sydney to Port aux Basque was $68 in August, good value for a 7 hour boat crossing, and bikes alway seem to get on, even on stand-by tickets. When you come off the ferry follow signs 'East', even though you will be going west and north. Don't ask me, I'm a Brit not a Newfee:confused1:
Best of luck
