Okay here it is.
I'm thinking about shipping a bike to Montreal next summer and then travelling down through the u.s to Central America. I'm prepared to buy a return flight from the u.k to Canada but wish to enter the u.s without a ticket out (obv).
Will I get in with a B2 visa? I can show sufficient funds, not a felon etc. Cheers all.

We crossed into the US from Canada several times and because we were on our UK bikes there was no question of an airline ticket because they assumed we were travelling on the bike.
I am often asked when I enter the US or Canada when you are leaving and I give them a date. Its very rare they ask to see my ticket and I was a frequent visitor for the US for 20 years.
When we entered into the US in Montana from Canada he asked us where we were going on our bikes, we said New Jersey as shipping them home in August and he said have a nice trip.
We did have to produce our V5 document going into Alaska from Canada but that was the only time.
They did not stamp the passport each time to ensure we only remained in the US for 90 days
Used James Cargo to ship and they made it very easy. You do need some paperwork to enter the US but we were never asked for it at the borders.
Have a great trip

Not sure I can help with the actual question but have you looked Air Canada?. I believe you can book your bike on the same flight as you. Ride to Heathrow, bubble wrap the bike and fly on the same plane. I haven't done this but I have heard about it.
The USA can be very difficult to get in to with no flight out. I had to go to the London Embassy in 2010 to get a Visa as I had a one way flight to Alaska. You CAN do it but research it properly, don't take any ONE person's word for it.

With a visa you don't need a flight out. Period. Arriving by land you don't need a flight out.
With ESTA (visa waiver) you do need a flight out, although you might be able to schmooze your way through.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
