sick bmw in Fairbanks

Just had a spill on the Dalton and my 650 Dakar has bent handlebars and needs some TLC. Can anyone recommend a garage in Fairbanks who could help me?

Thanks

Harley Outpost in Fairbanks (907) 456-3265 also represents BMW since 2008. It used to be "Trails End BMW"

Good Luck!

I'm currently in Anchorage, leaving tomorrow for Denali Park. Are you coming over to Dawson City, YT for the D2D?

Thanks Thomas! I`ll give them a call tomorrow. I`m from England over here riding form Alaska to Argentina. Not sure what D2D actually is! But Dawson City may be on my list of places to visit!

Wishing you & your bike well Motivator - I'm planning to be on the Dalton in August & the fear is increasing!

I hope it's only superficial damage & more importantly you're okay.

Hope all works out for you.

D2D stands for Dust to Dawson. It's an annual gathering (not a rally) in Dawson City, YT. It'll take place next week, June 24-26. Lots of good folks coming together.

The next BMW shop is in Anchorage.

Have you check out "Trails End" BMW in Fairbanks? I presume George Rahn is still alive. He's a very eccentric chap whose shop looks like a scrap heap. I found him to be helpful, once you worked out how to humour him.

He thought that I had deliberately stuck a GB sticker on my bike and used a phoney English accent and refused to believe I was really English.

Good Luck.
Chris

Chris
BMW finally (about time!) took the dealership, or better, representation away from George in 2008. Scrap heap is an understatement... I went to him in 2008 after making tire reservations with him, which he never ordered. Also, he opened his shop when he felt like it...:confused1:

Trail's End BMW is now at Harley-Davidson in Fairbanks. They are very capable folks, not hung up on any brand

Thanks for the info and good wishes! Bike is currently being looked at in the Harley dealership (previously Trails end). Been to have x ray (600+$) on suspect wrist - not broken thank God. Just waiting report on bike. After 800+ miles on The Dalton, the b*****d got me on the last 7 miles. Hit wet, sticky mud and lost the front end. Really pissed off. Still, could have been worse, could have happened half way over the Atigun.

Glad things worked out and you're OK.

We just arrived in Whitehorse, YT. First time of having internet connection since Anchorage, AK.

Be safe out there and keep the rubber down
