haha, so am I in a way...we have so much stuff I think we are making those little engines work hard. But I really love the fact they are small and handle off-road well. We bought them new in Japan, added an fmf q4 exhaust, megabomb header and a few other accessories, really didnt have enough time to run them in properly before we loaded them up for our adventure. Will update this post on any new developments...

Generator Burned Out
Oh no, 18000kms and first sign of trouble - burned out generator in Novosibirsk, Altay region, Russia. 30-days for one to come from Japan, 7-8 days for one to be rewired. Gives us 6 days to get to Kazakhstan.
So on that bike we were only running a tourmaster heated vest - i think 45 watts max? Does anyone know if this would overload the generator?

In a word.....NO !
WR250 makes 350 - 400 watts.
In my research though, I did find out from Yamaha how many watts all the household appliances use

Enjoy your trip!
Sounds to me like an "small" breakdown who can happen with every bike or car.

250's are great for adventure riding!! They're so light and nimble with enough power to tackle anything a big bike can.
I'm riding a TTR250 from Aussie to Europe but heading to Kyrgyzstan to store it for the winter, In india at the moment.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
