130-80.17 in Mongolia?

Hi,

I am in Khovd, and my rear tire is almost "dead".
Does anyone knows about, or left a 130-80 17 tire somewhere in Mongolia?
Any tire would be great, at least one that get's me to Irkutsk, Russia (a tkc80 is waiting for me there)

I ll be heading east,
Uliastai, Bhayankongor, Arvaikeer, Tsertselerg, Ulan Bator, Dalandazgad.

Any info would be great.

Cheers

Steppenfuchs in Ulaanbaatar also provide tire service in Mongolia. Last I heard, they have Heidenau tires.

Hi,
I don't know how desperate you are and how much time you have but we could do the following:
We will enter Mongolia from Russia on the 25th of July via the road that leads to Khov. We will change our tires in Novosibirsk and planed to throw our old tires away there. They have the right size (130-80.17) and will be down to about 30%. One is a Michelin Anakee, the other a Metzler Tourance. If you want we could carry one of them over th border for you.
If you think you could use one of these road tires and want to wait for us let me know.
Cheers Patrick

We can probably reserve you a free-of-charge part-worn 140/80-17 that would definitely get you to Irkutsk off an Africa Twin here at Oasis Guest house, UB. N 47* 54.706'
E106* 58.857'

There'll be a bit of tyre swapping going on here, tomorrow between a couple of guys here and there are still some abandoned part-worns by the gate. It's dark here now but I'll check in the morning and if there's a 130/80-17 I can put your name on it. I'm waiting for a DRZ alternator stator from the UK to arrive here in UB, so may still be around when you get here.

Hi,

thank you all for the opinions / suggestions!!!

I am in UB, with a "new" used tire that I got from a German biker I met in Uliastai.
By chance, we met in this little tire repair workshop and he was going to swap his tires, so he just gave me the old one!! guess I am a lucky guy...
this one it will get me to Irkutsk.

Once again thank you,

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
