buying a bike in Japan and riding back?
I have this strange urge to fly to Japan buy a Honda cross cub and ride it home, two reasons for this 1) always wanted to go to Japan and Mongolia , 2) Honda are not importing the CC into the uk .
Question is folks could i ride it back on Japanese plates i have had a good look around the net and cant find any reason why not . I am assuming I can ship from Japan to Magadan or somewhere close .
Any info much appreciated

The problem isn't the Japanese plates, but rather inability to register it in your own name. To register, you need a residence certificate, which I believe you can now only get with a visa longer than 3 months (i.e., not a tourist).
If other countries will allow you in on a borrowed bike, you can possibly register it in somebody else's name.
Not sure how reliable the Cross Cub is, being so new and made in China.

Thanks for that Chris I'm not worried about reliability too much , I know enough about the world's most popular engine to get me through but the registration issue is something of a pain , I'll do some more digging
