Hi. By August 12.2014 we will be selling some of our YAMAHA XT 600 E. They will be fully serviced, new tires, and go for around USD 2500.-. They are Kyrgyz registered and you'll get a power of attorney so you can cross any border.

Motorcycle registration
So guys - did you manage it to get back on the motorcycle you bought in Kazakh/Kyrgyz to Europe?
So I was wondering if the paperworks actually doable? What is the best way how to do it?
Should I buy that (or some local will buy for me in Kazakh or Kyrgyz´ and I will get power of attorney) - get transit plates - ride through kazakh borders - russian border - ukraine or latvian border to EU.
So what are the costs of the paperwork and is it doable - getting transit plate (how much does it cost?) and should I expect that I will have to bribe on the borders/pay high fees?
Or is there any other better option there?
Cheers,
Jan

Hey guys, I am in a similar situation. I have been planning a trip to ride from Ulaanbaatur to Almaty on a new Chinese motorcycle purchased in UB. But the registration seems to be a major sticking point. I contacted Cheke Tours who runs motorcycle tours in the area and told them what I was planning. They told me:
"I don't want to discourage you but your plan will be very difficult, if not impossible to realize. All travelers who wanted to do something similar to your trip, gave up. Too much paper work.
First, you can only buy a motorbike in Mongolia with a transit plate number that will allow you to go to the Russian border. After that, I don't know it the Russian will let you in with it.
The best way for you is to rent a bike to travel in Mongolia. Then go to Russia by train or bus and buy a bike there that you will sell before crossing into Kazakstan. In these countries, border crossing can be very complicated."
Is this a deal breaker? She has purchased bikes for other foreigners looking to ride in Mongolia so I feel like she knows what she is talking about.
