Chinese motorcycle license
I would cross China with an agency and a guide but a Chinese travel agency told me that the motorcycle license in China is limited to persons under 60 years of age.
I'm 65 old So I could not drive my bike.
who has information about this rule?
thank you
chris

Yes, thats correct, 60 years of age is the cut off date for legal motorcycling in China and a annual medical check up is required to keep the car driving license once the age of 60 is reached…. TIC = This Is China!
ps: last year they were seriously considering to lower the age to 35 and Mainland China just started to get into big import bikes around 5-7 years ago…

I have my mind on buying a MC in China in 2015 and cruising around. How difficult has it been to get your drivers license there in relative short order on your own?

Rather very difficult as a visitor (tourist) to obtain a Chinese driving license and interlinked with length and type of visa. Another question, how to you plan to register and insure your bike you plan to buy in China ~ another obstacle to overcome as you do not have a residential address. Yeah, I can see posts coming, run it through a bike dealer / shop but are you sure the rego / documents are real, legal and legit?
…Yes, there are "experts" on certain internet forums ~ scam artists and "visa / license agents" that claim they can arrange Chinese visa and driving license but trust me the DL's are fake and do not part with your hard earned $$$'s nuff' said…

I emailed Tiffany with this question as it will affect me next year. She said that she had ridden across China with groups including someone who is 69.
I wonder if there is a difference between a temporary DL based on a visa, and a permanent one? It is going to be a big task getting all of the right documentation, but we hope to get help from our local contacts who assure us it can be done.

license
There are agents in Beijing who can do this, however it always depends on their "guanxi" (special connections) at that time, so someone who was able to get everything done last year, might not be able to do so this year.
So any definite answer beforehand might turn out wrong later. However, in China there is always a way. Which one you will probably just find out when you are there - make sure you plan with some extra time for a possible delay though.
