Hi Levelo,

Russians seem quite relaxed after what I´ve read here: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/int...1580226297.htm

Cheers

Sad to post that our Aussie crew of 7 due to hit Russia in May have just pulled the pin. Still holding out for another way.

As of March 5th people flying into all Moscow airports from infected areas or whose passports show that they have recently been to those countries ( the USA, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Norway, China, Iran, Spain, S.Korea, Japan, among others ) will be quarantined for 14 days in Moscow.
As of today this measure doesn't extend to the whole Russian Federation, but it might soon be the case. Stay tuned.

Friends of mine across the border in Belarus ( I'm in Poland ) who've just told me.
Then I doublechecked on the French Embassy's website in Moscow and it just confirmed it.
So far it affects only people flying in, and only in Moscow.
I fear that soon the whole country will implement the same measures. And Belarus will do just the same.

Hi Panny
Many thanks for starting this thread. I've a bike parked in Central Asia that I was intending on riding back to Europe this summer. I'm monitoring the situation closely and will decide last minute if/ if not the trip happens this year.

As per today, the chances are 95% against. I'll have to actually decide in June.

We live in interesting times.

Yes Chris, interesting times !
But probably not the best year to hit the road :-(.
I somehow managed to dodge the Ebola crisis while crossing Africa some years back but this time around I think I am going to end up stuck somewhere between the Baltic Sea and the Stans.
But I've already left home, so I'll make the best of it.

No kidding. I just escaped from Italy on Saturday, into Tunisia.

When I go back, I think I will try to take a ferry to France, rather than Italy. But the passenger counts on the ferries are very low (only 60 people on the ferry Saturday from Palermo to Tunis), there is a risk that the ferry operator might just cancel the Marseilles route.

Sure as heck I don't want to go back to Italy.

Yeah, but look at the bright side of things:

At least the Jews can get to their holy sites after a 14 day wait. The Saudi's won't let the Muslims go to Mecca at all - even though the Koran says that Mecca is the safest place on earth.

As of today, Mongolia will close borders to European travellers ( or maybe complete )

Parlament is deciding just right now.

A French traveller came into Mongolia a few days ago and was tested.
The authorities asked him to stay in Quarantine, but he did not.
Went to a good hotel, met a lot of other people and started working in a gold mining company.

Now it is confirmed that he has Covid19 and did not stay in quarantine....

Big problem now for European travellers.

In Osh south Kyrgyzstan live is as normal as it gets. KG Gov did a new banning on 12 countries just recently for a period of time but this is more ore less focused on fly in passenger which may come directly from the related countries.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
