Diesel and LPG availabilty
Can anyone advise me on the availability of diesel and LPG on the approx route?

Diesel is readily available in turkey but it's expensive (at least it was when we were there: in 2013 was about 1,30€ per litre, a bit less in 2016)

LPG readily available in Uzbekistan, the majority or little trucks run on it.

Diesel can be a bit trickier in Uzbekistan, as it is often reserved for farm vehicles in harvesting period. However, there is a big fuel stop in Samarkand where we had no problems getting diesel, though we had to queue a bit.

What range do you have in your tanks? That would help a bit in giving a more detailed response.

LPG is for cooking, 1 fill lasts about 3 months.

Diesel is for engine and heating, so more important. I have a range of about 400miles per tank (70L), based on 26mpg (uk).

Your routing has me confused as you will not be able to go from Turkey to Armenia and then into Azerbaijan, but rather will have to go up via Georgia. In Georgia and Azerbaijan vehicle diesel is very easy to obtain. As to gas, the problem is usually the connector / adapter to fill the bottle. There are two types of gas and often confused - Natural gas which is popular for vehicles and propane which is bottled and used for cooking etc. Be clear on which you need / bring alternative filling connectors if you can. I could not fill an American type propane canister for the BBQ and ended up having to change bottles, hoses and connections.

We also get 3 months per bottle. We had it refilled in Kyrgyzstan on a road just outside karakol on the big lake. I can hunt out the coordinates next week and send across. It was basically a huge gas tanker parked next to the side of the road, outside a little compound. The guy had the right adapters for our tank there. (We're using a 6kg alugaz tank from Germany).
Like cliffi says, you need propane (the bottle also says butane: I think it's a different mix?). I thought LPG was what cars used, but the stuff for cooking? But I am a total dunce on such matters

Sorry, I haven't given much detail to the route. I plotted a rough route. This is not our exact route, we have plenty of time to decide once we leave home.

I have an under slung gas tank that I fill with LPG. I have ordered a variety of adaptors in the hope that we can refill it. Although, I'm pretty sure a bottle of propane can be poured into it if connected correctly. Or I can alter the connection to allow the use of Propane or Butane in a bottle.

I'm currently making provisions foe extra fuel and water storage. From various source, I feel a little concerned about sourcing diesel within our range.
