Donating bikes in Mongolia?

I am on the very early stages of planning my next big trip.
Thinking to go to Mongolia.

Here I have 2 options. Either take our biggish bikes and go back and forth (may take too long and they may be too heavy once we reach Mongolia), or, buy a couple of cheap used YBR 125s and once we make it to Ulan Bator, donate our bikes to a charity and fly back home.

It does not make economic sense to transport the bikes back due to costs basically.

So here is my question: is there a way to donate little wee bikes in Mongolia? Has anyone done this?

If you buy a mongolian bike and donated it in mongolia, then i can't see a problem.

Never heard of anybody saying no to a free bike

Hi,

we think to buy 2 very cheap little bikes in the UK (so with british plates) and travel for few months next year. But instead of trying to pay to bring them back by train/truck / plane (which would be much more than the value of the bikes) we would consider leaving them behind.
Renting bikes in Mongolia for several months would be too expensive and we would have probs crossing borders so not an option....

Oh well I will check the communities pages of Mongolia sometime nearer the departure date.

Cheers.

Hi. In case you have problems in Mongolia, it is very easy to leave them in Kyrgyzstan.
