Yes, I wrote about Afghan side. So forget about going from afghan Ishkhashim any other direction than Sarhad. It is NOT SAFE area for tourism now.

It will be interesting to see your progress toward Sarhad. I have never done it so early. Expect deep water after Khandud and try to cross it very early.

Cheers Sambor top advice.

I will be leaving my trailer here in Khorog and going in the Land Rover 90 only. Adam will be with us on his DRZ400.

We will be getting our visa tomorrow and crossing on Saturday. This will also allow us to re-new our Temp Import for Tajikistan.

The plan is to see how far we get without going crazy. We still have a long way to go to Siberia so not looking to damage the truck/bike on this leg. Its just going to be an exploratory look around.

Hopefully it will be worth it

I just got finished with the Pamir and southern route along the pamir river. It rained on me some and snowed on me over one of the passes. The roads were crap so the riding was great

I never felt in nervous about safety. Except the dogs. those fookers run out at you in a full sprint. I resorted to kicking them while they were trying to bite me. Hopefully they will think twice next time.

Correct. I am in Dushanbe. I'm not sure how we missed each other.

Just found a direct replacement for a ktm 690 regulator rectifier from a crashed 1995 kawasaki 600.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
