Can anyone please supply us with the fax and email address of the JAF organization in Tokoyo Japan, or in Wakkanai Port, Hokkaido prefeture?
The current email address that I have is: kokusai@jaf.or.jp and this does not work!!!
Also, the email address for Red Baron Motorcycles in Japan?
Many thanks to you all in advance

FAX No. of JAF Branch Offices for Carnet Authentication:
From JAF For Visitors Bringing Vehicles with Carnet de Passages en Douane
Sapporo (closest to Wakkanai, but still 300 km away): +81-11-857-7177
Tokyo: +81-3-5440-2564
There is no JAF office in Wakkanai.
I would recommend trying to contact the Tokyo head office first and ask them to E-mail you back. When using the ferry from Vlad to Fushiki (a very small town), you usually have to go through the Tokyo head office then visit the office in Toyama to get the actual papers. They will not handle authentication by mail.
If you have to go to Sapporo from Wakkanai, it is 11,000 yen (US$100) round trip by overnight bus. Five hours by express train at about double the price.
Red Baron:
This is the international trade dept., but I assume they could direct your inquiry to whomever it needs to go.

Red Baron Wakkanai
Here is also the phone number for Red Baron, Wakkanai, Hokkaido:
TEL : 0162-26-2167
Be advised, however, they are only open during the summer months (1 July until end of September if I am not all wrong!!).
In addition, I don't know about their foreign language abilities (i.e. English or any other). When I went there last year it was Japanese only.

Sorry.
kokusai@jaf.or.jp is the only one I have.
Fax them your documents and ask for a reply by e-mail as I recommended yesterday.

We came in to Wakkanai from Sakhalin Island by ferry and did not need the JAF paper work after all. The carnet was stamped at the Terminal in Wakkanai. All went smoothly.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
