Thanks for the photo Nicola and everything else, Sergei is very grateful for it.

I emailed Sergei last night and told him about you. Part of his response was:
Я очень обрадовался и разволновался, когда прочитал твоё письмо про Жерома!!!!!

Which I believe translates as something along the lines of:
I was very happy and excited when I read your mail about Jerome!!

I have sent you Sergei's email address, please let me know if didn't receive it.

Hi Craig ,

Yes I did receive his email address.I have emailed him as well. I hope the Russian translation went through alright .
Thank you very much. I will visit here to see what is happening .

take care,

Nicola

PS Does Sergei actually ride this bike?

PS PS: The more I reflect on this some questions arise for me.
Maybe I am way off nevertheless I will share it with you .
From what I understood Sergei seeks to give Jerome's bike to his family .
So when I imagine to be in his mom's situation: I think I would not at all be overwhelmed with joy ( to say the least) if a person would show up at my house to give me the bike on which my favorite son had died 20 years ago .
Bring her a nice beautiful bouquet of flowers instead . Honor her , honor Jerome, leave the motor out of this.
I am sorry it just creeps me out . Even seeing the photo of Sergei with the bike in his garage it kind of freaks me out as well. Second space is Paris is scarce and expensive .People pay a lot of money just to have a garage.

Maybe I am missing the love of bikes here ..... actually I am sure I do .

Hi Nicola,

Yes he does ride the bike. I am not sure exactly on his plans with the bike and meeting Jerome's mother, things get lost in translation. I didn't get the impression that was his plan however. It was only really in the press article quoted above. I know he feels that seeing her is important.

Thanks for taking the time to contact him.

Craig

In the year 2000 I heard from the boss of the police in Skovrodino about Jerome, we were in a banja drinking and he asked me if I knew Jerome. He told me that Jerome was riding a Suzuki DR650 and that he hit a tree, so as I can read here on the HUBB now, this was not true.

Thank you Nicole for sharing the story and for posting the pictures. I agree with you, that it is not a good idea to give the bike to Jeromes mother, flowers are better. Just my 2 cents ...

Hello Fred,

Sorry, I don't have it.

Maybe you could send a private message to Nicolala and Craig, in case they don't see this post.

And probably explain more the reason to contact Jêrome's family. It's been a touching initiative by Craig and any contribution would be more than welcome.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
