Lazer Kid,.. you mentioned a flight from Vladivostock to LA in 2006. We're trying to get from Vlad to USA/Canada (Sept 2008),.. preferably not via Japan or Korea, so if you have any details of that 'route/carrier',.. it would be much appreciated. Cheers,

From Magadan - extremely difficult (if not impossible?)
From Vladivostok - container possible but paperwork and Russian 'processes' will take a long time (potentially weeks) and expensive.

From Zarubino - take car ferry to South Korea. 3 times perweek. $250 for bike $250 per person. Then options exist to exit Korea either by air or sea. (Use shipping agent Wendy Choi based in Seoul). This will get you out of Russia with the minimum of hassle. You just turn up at ferry port in Zarubino and the very friendly guys process paperwork etc in couple of hours with no problems whatsoever.

I have done this in last couple of months.

I will get my W140 S280 merc from Russia to US alaska. It must be possible.
I'm just an ordinary Joe with a car and two buddies and a hell of bee in my bonnet to do what everyone says is near impossible.

Lookin at shipping in a container from Vanino which is 49.083Lat 140.250Lon,
to alaska hopfully Anchorage. My run is for charity so I have a lot of pressure to make it work or come back the way I went and look a chump.

Please please guys let me know of all passable dirt gravel roads you know of 500 mile rad of Vanino. I'm is Sheffield England and goin to talk to the head of dept for Russian studies at Sheffield university for pointers and possibly a Russian speaking student who would tag along.

I'm prepairing the car for the journey with the help of sponsors Pirrelli, Bilstein, North face, but they want to see some progress with my research.
My own money is also being sunk into this run. @ $10,000 plus the car @ $6,000. wife is gonna kill me if journey dont.


Check out the car guys it wont look like this soon, roof rack snow tyre jacked suspension spot lights black bonnet, trailer, jerry cans, water tanks, decals, hoist, bull bars, sump guard.

No shit if I make it all who help are invited to the bash in Alaska or New York or Sheffield Alabama. please old me to this more pressure the more chance I will do it.
