Medical insurance?
Apart from getting a Russian Visa!!!! Medical insurance for my drive from Scotland to Vladivostok is the last thing on my list. 4 weeks till I set of and I cannot wait to 'hit the road'!
But on the topic of 'hitting the road' I am deliberating over some type of medical insurance and medical evac insurance. Should I or not???
I'll be in a Landrover with roll cage so hopefully in the event of a vehicle accident we stand a fighting chance. But usually on a trip we come unstuck for the things we could never account for.
You guys got any advice on what might be appropriate for Russia Siberia Mongolia and what company you used.
Maybe I should just eat a bag of cement and harden the **** up
Thanks again
Callum

I think the really simple answer is you should. And make sure it covers you for the activities you plan to do, and also that it has the med-evac option.

A roll cage wont stop you getting Typhoid.
Columbus are reasonable, good rates and easily set out policy etc. can all be done online. we were looking at theirs for our 10month trip next year.
Dont forget your E111 card covers you for EU so make sure you have one, its in date, and your carrying it.

Russian visa requires you to have a medical insurance. Look at the visa application form.
This is what I use... for medical and evac.

Its a typhoid resistant roll cage ;-)
Had a look at World Nomads and their cover looks pretty good.
Can I still get an E111 if I am no longer a resident in the UK? Not sure if I would be elligable for that??
Will check out Columbus
Thanks again

Just checked out Columbus.... it doesn't include motorcycling in their adventure package. I t does have an option for overland expedition but that doesn't cover personal liability. And if it doesn't cover personal liability what's the point?
I've not used them but I found Bikers Travel Insurance in my search a while ago that looked quite good. I think it'll be between these people and World Nomads.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
