Having seen the quality of the Chinese stuff for sale in Mongolia, I would question the wisdom of buying a Mong/Chinese bike.
On topic: If the bike is registered in your name, then what's the problem? If it's not, then there is a large problem.

I might never reach the border indeed on a chinese motorbike(-:
Well, i can only get it registered with mongolian transit plates. Seems weird to me that you can take it out on transit plates, no?
Maybe driving a eu registered bike thats in ub back to eu would be better....

No. That's what transit plates are for = to permit export of vehicles from the country where the plates are issued.
I guess how far you can get after that depends on the validity of the transit plates elsewhere.

Just so everyone is clear, Raf has been on a epic journey for about a year by bicycle. He rode through turkey and Iran in winter and did the Pamir highway the same time i was there this summer. Raf may be a noob to motos, but not to adventure travel.
he has an amazing blog. Op naar Mongolië
I hope you are able to ride Raf! Cheers and good luck. I wish I had more info for you.

Nooooo! Is this true?! After months of considering where I'll adventure to next (in Australia now), I finally got excited about buying a cheap Chinese 150cc Mustang and trying to get to Europe on it. I've been looking into registering it and taking it out of Mongolia, without finding a ton of info.
People think it's a no go?? The plan was to stay in Australia until May (year visa) then head to Mongolia in June, 2014.
