In 80%+ of the cases the starter on oilhead BMWs can be repaired by a starter mechanic that you should find almost in any bigger village everywhere in the world if you ask around. The design is almost exacly the same like on cars.
If it's fried, they'll rewire it (yes, they really can!), if the magnets are loose, they'll reglue 'em. If the pendix is fecked, they can grind out a new one that at least temporarily will get you somehwere where you can get a new one.

theres 2 vlad moto locations,
but I think this is the one that also contains the clubhouse.
г. Владивосток, ул. Vladivostok, st. Иртышская 23, Irtysh 23
tel. (4232) 36-75-14, 240-940,
its off the main road going into vlad, about 5-6km before the center, on the east side. When you go up the street, its about 1km down, on the left, theres a guarded parking lot, & the shop is on the back side of that lot.
the clubhouse is above it

Russian online maps
Hi Doug,
For a map there, just plug that address into the search filed at the top of the page on Яндекс.Карты and it will show you the location.
This also converts to cyrillic addresses entered in latin letters if you don't have Russian input on your computer.
MUCH better than Google Maps if you need maps of Russian cities.
Basically the only road you can see in Google Maps for Vladivostok is the M-60 going out of town.
You can find all sorts of neat things surfing the net when you should be working...

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
