quick advice needed, crossing the stans
I am intending to drive to india in november but it looks as though recently all UK visa applications for iran have been turned down. this leaves me with crossing the stans, including afghanistan.
question is simply is this possible in november in a 4x4?

You would have to go into Uzbekistan, enter Afghanistan from the north and then cross into Pakistan via the Khyber Pass. To my knowledge there are no high mountain passes on this route, so it should be possible in November. Since you are in a 4x4 you could handle a bit of snow, unlike a bike.
Afghanistan obviously has some issues you should research prior to leaving. You will need some special permission to cross the Tribal Areas in Pakistan after you get to the Khyber Pass. I am not sure how to arrange this, it may be possible to arrange something at the border. You will need the special permit and the armed escort at the minimum to continue to Peshawar.

Good Luck with your job.
Post on the HUBB when you decide to make your journey.
Note 2 german journalists recently killed in Afghanistan just on the news a day or two ago.
