ship to korea farry to japan?
i am finishing a 3year RTW and want to pass threw japan to see a bit of Asia high culture though it wood be clever to ship from Malaysia or Singapore to Korea and then take the ferry over to southern japan. some years ago i heard you were not allowed to bring a biker into Korea. any one know if this is still in effect. I'm in Bangkok at the moment and at dinner with 4 other motorcycle travelers the said a German women just arrived from there on a BMW 1150 so I'm thinking that's a positive sing and the let me in to Vietnam a few weeks ago but chin was a hard lesson and i don't want to have to wait another 2 month for some mysterious permission slip.
right thanks for any info

Heyho!
Me and two german friends entered South Korea coming from russia in october 2004, without any hassles...! But we are still not sure if we were allowed to drive, but nobody cared about documents or so :-) If you want to know anything special, just drop me a line.

were you able to drive on the hi ways in Korea, i just spoke with some young Korean with wild haircuts here in Bangkok who said motorcycles were not allowed on the freeways. they also said it was snowing so i think i might get my heated hand grips working again. do you remember about what you were spending on accommodations?
thanks mason

Hey roadmason,
it is a pity, we did not meet in Bangkok, where I just left on monday.
I flew from Seoul to Bangkok a week ago, having spend six weeks or so in Korea. No problems at all, taking a motorbike is now legal. They changed the law a couple of years ago.
Wonderful riding in Korea, an worldclass food too.
But might get a littly cold. Ha 9 degrees celsius in Seoul the day I left.
Send me a mail if you have any questions.
Regards
Lars

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to drive on the highways with an mc in South Korea. But not much fun anyway ;-) But entering Seoul without highway neither :-)
Nice country, but in winter it's pretty cold. But warm clothes are pretty cheap to buy there!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
