Shipping a 5m car from Magadan to Vladivostok - How much?

Does anyone know how much it costs to ship a car (5m long 4x4) from Magadan to Vladivostok (or visa-versa)?

Is this an easy thing to do (I doubt it!), will I have to wait for weeks?

Thanks

Daniel

Magadan to Vladivostock

Another contact for you was in my post on a similar thread a few weeks ago- copied below.

There are Russian cargo ships of various lines (companies) sailing between the two, departing every few days. Unfortunatley there is no 'central' agency acting for all of them and we had to visit several agencies each acting for their own shipping line to get expected dates of arrival and then deal with the best for our purposes.

Some ships will also let you travel on board - ours did not, so we flew.

Sailing time was about 6 days and varies as to whether the ship calls at other ports en-route.

Cost for two bikes was 9,180 rubles (about US$300) plus 6,000 rubles 'tips' for those who loaded the bikes on and off the ship.

Although this was a container ship, the bikes were not crated or in containers but loaded by crane into the hold where we fixed them securely with rope to part of the ships structure.

We ended up using Transfes Agency. Their office in Vladivostock is just behind the main railway station. Phone number +7 (4232) 497053. Konstantin was the guy there in charge of Magadan route and spoke sufficiently good English. Others in the ofice had excellent English and all were helpful

This was at the end of July this year. Details, including riding the "Road of Bones" (known only as Kolyma Highway in Russia), in our Blog at Sibirsky Extreme » 2009 » July

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
