Storing a motorcycle in Astana, Kazakhstan
Hello!
So after 13,500kms covered I have finally given in to the weather in Astana, Kazakhstan I spent the last 3 nights in a fire station 300kms west of Astana having to rewire my entire electrical harness on my Royal Enfield. After I fixed the bike I rode to Astana where it nearly hit -10c and with snow, constantly freezing visor I finally decided maybe it isn't the best time to try and ride to Vladivostok, if I had more time and money I feel like anything is possible however the enjoyment factor was taking a pretty big dive.
I posted frantically nearly a couple of weeks ago looking for ideas, plans change. I have been in contact with various storage companies here in Astana and haven't gotten any replies of yet.
I came into Kazakhstan on a 6 month import for the bike apparently that can be extended, I am not exactly sure what the maximum time is for leaving it here I spent all of today at the various foreign offices nobody seems to know anything, I visited the Canadian embassy which acts as the Australian embassy and I have someone there finding out how long I can leave it here and the costs involved.
So in short I am happy to work out paperwork when I get home but right now I am looking to store the bike, if anyone on here can point me to anywhere/anyone they know who can store a bike for an extended period up I will be very grateful.
Thanks Tim.

He is based in Almaty, not in Astana, but probably Marat can help you.
You can find him on FB as Mara Luchezarniy or through his site Silkoffroad

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
