Taijkistan - Langar bridge border

Few days ago I returned from my 38 days trip in Taijikstan, Kirgistan, Kazachstan (also China) and I have good info (I suppouse).
New border crossing is building in Langar near the bridge, it looks that for 2 years will be open to Afganistan.
It could be great for car travel to Pakistan and India.
Short way from Langar-Sarhad-Boroghil Pass-than Pakistan KKH and so on.
No need to cross expensive China and long way througt Iran.
I talked with custom officer who confirm that there are much more transport to Taijkistan and they need new border crossings.
Hope it will also help us to travel.

Greetings to IANC (we meet in Kirgistan) and Bill Hooykaas (good pilav in a middle of Kazachstan).

Hi Bartosz

Several points.

The bridge was there in 2007 when I first visited, it's not new.

The Baroghil Pass is not a border crossing with Pakistan. I don't think there is even a road.

Ice Ages pass more quickly than Pakistani bureaucracy, even if the Langar Bridge was open, even if there was a road to the Baroghil Pass, even if the Pakistanis and Afghans would agree to open such a border.

Let's not get anyone's hopes up

Well, They can open border crossing. Bridge doesn't have any sense without border crossing and Aga Khan idea was to open border crossing in this point. Road to Pakistan through Sarhad? I don't believe. I was in Sarhad several times and I don't believ the road to Pakistan will appear next 10 years...

eurasiaoverland: I also visited bridge in 2012 but building they make now is impressive like for Tajik conditions.
It looks that border crossing will open defenitly but it can be only for small cars and persons.
If there will not be conection to Pakistan it will be only Taijk-Afgani border.
Only one small step.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
