Turkmenistan Visa
Turkmenistan Embassy in Paris is not granting transit visa at the moment, we planned to ride from Uzbekistan through Tajikistan and back to Uzbekistan, we would like to try to get a Turkmenistan visa in Tashkent, does anybody know if it's possible, how long does it takes and if they keep the passport or a copy if enough?
Thanks for any updated info

If you pay for an express visa (ask for express when you apply), it should take 7 days. If you don't ask for express, it can take ages. Normal service is $55, express $85, though they don't always remember to charge you for express. You just need to give them a copy of your passport.

I picked mine up in Ankara no probs, drop passport one day, came back the day after to collect. Generally the closer you get the easier it is. if Stantours are still going then David would be the guy to ask/get your loi for you

As far as I know you don't need an LOI for a transit visa... that wouldn't make sense.

Just applied for our Turkemen transit visas in Istanbul today. Took 20 minutes and have arranged to pick them up when we pass through Baku in 2-3 weeks. No LOI required, in fact we've applied for our visas for a few central asian countries (Kyrg,Uzbek & Azer) here and have not been asked for a single LOI?
Only Azer kept our passports as we asked to keep them at the others so we could apply for all of them at the same time.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
