Uzbekistan road conditions
Hello. Does anyone have recent info on the road through Boysun that connects the M41 with the M39? I am leaving Dushanbe for the border crossing west of the city into Uzbekistan tomorrow & then heading for Samarkand.
Also the road to Moynaq & from Nukus to the Kazakhstan border. Are these asphalt? In reasonable condition? Fuel stops?

2012 E40 which goes to Beyney Kazakstan was i could say quite normal central asian road. As far as i remember most of it was asphalt or hard gravel but definately no any loose sand. If you are used in road conditions in central asia then it is ok and others would say road is destroyed By B52 bomber
After Bukhara i remember i had to search fuel stops few times but with Africa Twin fuel range about 400 km i had no problems.
Make sure to get enough to drink after you leave last Uzbek cities. Desert where road goes is really hot and warm. Also you will spend time in custom as they like to check and investigate all western travellers quite intensively. In Beyney there are again shops and bank machines to get Kazak money.

No recent info but 3 years ago we rode from Nukus to Beyneu, staying a night in Kungirot. It's a desert road in very bad condition. Indeed, it looks and feels like it's been carpet bombed, many trucks drive on dirt tracks besides to the actual road.
After Nukus we did not find decent fuel. In Kungirot there was a station but only 76 or 80 octane as there was fuel shortage when we were there.
I doubt the condition of this road will have changed much recently. So take enough water and fuel and leave early, it's a long, slow, hot drive.

Some things have not changed, there is still a fuel shortage, even in Bukhara I had to find a taxi driver with knowledge of roadside petrol, Nukus is even worse and far more expensive for what I could find. Maybe at least the road has improved though I doubt it......

As people frequently request road conditions etc i was wondering would it be beneficial to take some pictures of roads while you drive like example how is road etc and post them to GoogleMaps pictures.
I have sometimes used GoogleMaps and attached pictures to find out what kind of road is expected. Once when i was planning road in caucasus i tracked one small road in a map which was actually old raildroad as i checked from pictures posted in GoogleMaps.

Hi ! Roads in Uzbekistan are different quality. But between the cities paved roads exists of different extent of destruction. From recently restored to destroyed and with holes. Problem in Uzbekistan is with gasoline (except Tashkent) It is very dangerous to buy gasoline at the road from private sellers which they sell in plastic bottles. Instead of gasoline there can be an oil refining product which local calls "gasoil" Some engines already killed there. Before filling in gasoline in a tank in a doubtful place, look on it and smell what you fill in.

I have now been in Uzbekistan for 10 days travelling from Denov to Nukus & in that time I have found only 1 petrol station with any fuel, so far all the roadside fuel sellers have sold me benzin only, though in Nukus I only bought 80 as 91 was twice the price of the rest of the country, going rate seems to be 4000 som a litre.
most of the roads are asphalt but rough, southern turn off for Urgench & Khiva is very bad, huge potholes,for about 20km after that normal roads. Bukhara road north is normal for 100km then is fantastic smooth 4 lane highway till I turned off for Khiva.
