Visa for Uzbekistan

I finally ran out of time to obtain visa for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan as part of my drive around the world.
I have guide in Turkmenistan, who will help us to get visa at the border (hopefully he knows what he is doing)
Any idea which country I can get visa for Uzbekistan for US citizens? I will be in Korea and Vladivostok, where i have couple of extra days.
Thanks

Yes...I really really hope he knows what he's doing...

An american I met in Almaty recently, thought he could fly into Tashkent and get a visa in the airport...He finished up spending three days and nights in solitary, before being kicked onto a plane out of uzbekistan.

Not to allarm you, but in your place I'd be careful.

This guy eventually got a visa, without any problems, in the uzbek consulate in Almaty, (although the LOI was mandatory and he had to pay about 3 times more than I did) .

I think a trip to an uzbek consulate in TM might be worth a try...just my opinion.

Saluti da Trieste,

Antonio.

If you picked StanTours as your guide, they're as good as it gets...

Also, ask David @ StanTours where the easiest place to pick up the Uzbek Visa with an LOI, my guess is Bishkek...Kyrgyzstan.
Give StanTours 4 weeks in advance AND specify which consulate you will pick it up at.

Your rushed attempt will face some delays in the Stans...so don't be surprised...central planning and "5 year" plans failed for a reason

I got mine in Almaty in 2003. Just took a couple hours. I had a LOI.
I doubt that there is a consulate in Vladivostok. With the distances involved an the chance of delays, you would be better off getting a visa closer to your destination. At the time I went, the visa start date was fixed. So a 2 week miscalcualtion on time to reach Uzbekistan means 2 weeks less on your visa.
That proved a problem with my Kazakh visa as I had bike troubles just days before my visa expired.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
