This overland vehicle has been driven north of the Brooks Range in Alaska and off road in places like; Leavitt Lake in the Sierra's, Titus canyon & Mahogany Flatts in Death Valley and all the way down thru Mexico, Central America, and South America including;
The Peruvian Andes, The Bolivian South West corner, the Carretera Austral in Chile, and Ruta 40 in Argentina all the way down to Ushuaia. Fording many creeks and rivers and never getting stuck.
2003 Silverado LS 1500 4wd high and low with reliable manual transfer case and auto locking hubs.*4 speed automatic overdrive transmission. 165,500 miles. +/- ( I will continue to drive until sold. )
Runs great, shifts great, no check engine lights. No pings or knocks and has operated at almost 17,000 feet with no problems. 34 gal. Fuel tank. plus 30 gal. Aux. tank. ( See info below. )
This is the smallest V 8 offered in 2003 ( 4.8L Gas / Petrol. ) and has plenty of power. Ave. fuel economy driving has been 15-16mpg. 14 worst on slow dirt gravel roads and 18 best on paved flat roads where the speed limit was 50mph. / 80kmh. 500 mile+ / 800 km+ range is normal on the factory tank.
Most important is that this vehicle is reliable, easy to drive, and maneuver. The cloth seats are comfortable for all day drives on the roughest roads. Three seat belts in front or two seats with a large consul / arm rest in the center.
The truck body and paint are in good shape other than a few dings and light scratches. Pictures posted on this page were taking on March, 28. 2016.
Interior pictures have now been loaded up to the Photobucket site below.
( Note: Some pictures on the photo bucket site were taken in the last few years during actual overland trips as well as during the build. )

Sunrader Fiberglass truck camper body ( 1977 ) was rebuilt and converted into a flatbed camper and permanently attached to the truck frame in 2013.
-The roof of the camper was sealed with a black epoxy sealer ( Coat It ) before painting with an Elastomeric coating. ( Henry’s. )
-Bathroom inc. shower was added. All new water and gas systems. Several AC & DC outlets thru out.
-All windows have been sealed, side windows have composite trim to help keep the weather out.
-The camper is very well insulated and does not normally need much heat. I have personal slept in this camper in -30f and was warm. 42 Gallon Water tank is inside the passenger compartment.
The full time bed ( 48" x 71” ) in the cab over provides a great nights sleep. The dinette makes into a 30" x 72" Bed. ( Sleeps up to 3. )
The Sunrader body does NOT hang over the sides of the truck making driving in tight situations much easier than many overland vehicles.
The exterior length is 18.7’ (5.7m..) Width is 6.6’ (2.0m.) Height is 8.6’ (2.7m.) Interior height averages 70” ( 75” at the main roof vent and in the shower. )
The departure angle allows for steep climes out of rivers and washes without getting hung up. ( This was a must to have traveling thru SW Bolivia or up to Mahogany Flatts. )
It will NOT fit in a high top shipping container with out removing the vents / skylight on the roof. RORO / Ferry is best. The CBM to calculate shipping rates is 30.78
Pass thru is possible via. The 18" x 18" sliding glass window in the truck cab.
The rear door has been reinforced with two steel bolt locks upper & lower on the inside and two pad lock points on the outside for shipping. The window in the door has been covered to prevent access.
Permanently attached to the GM truck bed frame via. 3/8" welded steel supports and pressure treated plywood. Bolted and screwed, Think Tiger Motorhomes. The link below shows pictures of the build.

Known issues that are up to the buyer to address or not.
-30 gallon Aux. fuel tank pump is not working. Tank has a dent in it but has been holding fuel with no leaks. Buyer will have to replace this pump or use a hose with a separate pump to use this tank.
-Dent in exhaust line ( bolder in Peru.) no drive ability problems, just extra exhaust noise under hard throttle. Undercarriage dents, no fluid leaks!
-One of the two spare rims has a crack, both spare tires are good to go. (2nd. Rim may? work with inter tube. )
