Iveco 4x4 40.10 ex police vans on market
If anyone is interested the belgian police have just dropped a heap of 1991 iveco 4x4 40.10s on the market. Low milage prices start around 6k euro, come with windows on a box so would make an ok conversion. A few sellers have them on carworld.eu [didnt want to post link incase it breaches rules but just do a search for iveco and 4x4 in vans or trucks].

they might actually be plated at 4450kgs to cope with the heavy bodywork - just check your license that you can drive over 3.5 tonnes

For some reason they dont give the plated figure, but they say gross weight 2750kg net 7500kg, can that be right thats the same weight as a fully laden mog 1300.
I wonder if the bodies are the same as the current reliance level for prisoners transport which are not much heavier than normal transits or if they have the same kind of body as the old cat A prison vans which were full on bullet/blast proof and were like tanks.
IF your feeling really rich theres a couple of ex dakar new version iveco 4x4 vans

That 7.5 tonne is trainweight, not gvw (or Mam as I think its called now)
40-10wm's are normally gvw of 4050kgs , they can be uprated to 4450 kgs by a paper exercise, basically it adds capacity to the front axle
Not seen one of these in the flesh but reports are that the body is heavy but they have been converted to expedition vehicles or campers quite succesfully

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
