Iveco 4x4 Expedition Ready for Sale

We have made it back to the UK and so has our truck! Since we no longer need it, our lovely truck is now up for sale. Here are the details:

Make: Iveco
Model: Daily 35.10 4x4
Year: 1996
Engine: 2.5 litre turbo diesel
Transmission: manual
Drive: right hand
Kilometers: approximately 160,000 km. The current engine has done approximately 100,000 km (the engine was replaced by the previous owner).
Dimensions: 1.75 metres wide x 3 metres high x 4.5 metres long. Standing height inside the truck is 1.9 metres
Country of registration: UK

MOT: 12 months MOT from January 2014

Location: Newbury, Berkshire

Price: £6,500

Contact: abiandgerry@hotmail.com

We chose an Iveco Daily for our overland trip from London to Africa because it satisfied the following criteria:
• 4x4 with high ground clearance
• Not computerised and therefore easier to fix if anything goes wrong
• sufficiently large for us to live and sleep inside

We bought our truck in October 2011, gutted the interior and spent 9 months preparing it for our overland trip.

Our truck features:
• 150 x 200 cm bed that is stored on the ceiling during the day and lowered with mattress and mosquito net already in place
• Fold out table and seating for 2 inside the truck
• Sink with tap and separate drinking water tap
• Waterproof Toilet / shower space
• Lots of storage space
• Lights and electrical power

The truck has been fully insulated with double layered silver bubble insulation and 3 cm yellow foam board. It has a pop up roof vent and 3 windows in the living space. There is a reinforced area on the roof for storage. Tools and spares are accessed via an external large locker.

Prior to departure in August 2012, we replaced the following items:
• gearbox
• alternator
• cambelt and bearings
• clutch
• main oil seal
• injectors
• exhaust
• brake discs and pads
• battery
• 4 x shock absorbers

We also fitted:
• rotating Recaro seats
• 7 x 12 volt electrical sockets
• 50 litre spare fuel tank fixed under truck

On our journey the truck ran very well with only minor repairs needed. Fuel consumption is 8 to 9 km per litre. We have changed all transfer oils every 20,000 km. We have changed the oil and diesel filters and replaced the oil every 10,000 km. The 4 wheel drive (low and high ratio gears) and rear differential lock are mechanically sound and were used on a weekly basis.

Since returning to the UK we've had our front torsion bar bushes replaced.

We are happy we chose the perfect vehicle for our journey and kitted it out with everything we could possibly need. This truck has many more years of life left in it!

We bought the following items which are NOT included in the sale price but can be bought separately:
• 70 litre water tank and 1 x 20 litre plastic jerry cans
• 3 stage filter system for drinking water - incl shurflo pump and general ecology filter
• cooker with gas connection inside and outside the truck and 13kg gas bottle
• 40 litre Engel fridge / freezer
• 2 x 75 amp hours gel leisure batteries
• 8 x clear storage boxes (ranging from 18 - 35 litres)
• 4 x black wolf storage boxes
• full set of cooking equipment
• 220 watt inverter
• National Luna split charger and battery monitor
• Gravity shower
• 7 x 12 volt electrical sockets
• 3 x 3 metre awning
• 2 x outdoor chairs and 1 fold up table
• £800 worth of spare parts including: head gasquet set; alternator; wheel bearings; and full set of water hoses.
• high lift jack
• bottle jack
• £400 worth of towing / rescue gear including: chains; strops and kinetic rope.
• 2 x large, thick waffle boards
• 2 x 20 litre metal jerry cans
• Plus many more items

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
