Simon,
yes I am keeping an eye on ebay (daily, ebay junkie). Though I haven't seen a cruiser that looks in the same condition as yours (yet !).
Good Luck, Jim.

Landcruiser HJ60 for sale in SA
This probably isnt what you are looking for but we will finish driving our HJ60 to SA in a few month and want to sell it, ideally to another overlander who could drive it back.
The advantage is that its totally prepared, turn the key and go:
The engine has a genuine 114,000 mile (MOT certificates from 23 years to prove it) and its immaculate.
The bodywork was pretty rusty but I have had it all treated and resprayed and now there isnt a spot of rust on it.
The clutch was new in spain (Original Toyota parts - no scrimping on aftermarket stuff)
It comes with
a large roof tent for 2 with a 8 inch thick mattress. Fully waterproof even in the most torrential african downpoors.
New bullbars
Massive winch (never used)
ARB underbonnet aircompressor
High lift
Jerrys for fuel and water
Gas camping stove and bottle
Pots and pans
Spares (belts, original filters, waterpump, innertubes...)
Awning
Camping table and 2x chairs
Recovery straps
Tyres are Michelin XZY (surprisingly good in mud, excellent on road and in sand,) with plenty of tread left.
Fire extinguisher
Thuraya Sat phone,
Garmin GPS
Stereo with input for Ipod/mp3 player.
Solidly built shelving area in boot so you can use all 5 seats
Window tint cos its bloody hot on the equator and stops prying eyes.
I've even kept a service book of all the work I've done to it as the trip has gone along.
This vehicle had 2 owners since new in 1982, When I got it, it was totally overhauled by Toyota Gibraltar (that do all the landcruisers for NGOS) as part of a sponsored trip we are doing for them. You can see more of the car and our trip at www.africancruiser.com.
We are looking to sell it in SA around August/September time.

HJ60 in UK for sale
Hi Jim
i've got a HJ60 and i'm in the UK , was planning a trip down to SA aswell, had to cancel it unfortunately. i've been thinking of maybe selling the cruiser (a cruiser tend to get stuck to a man's heart). 187000 miles +/- on the clock, nothing for a cruiser though, (2H enigne). 5 gears manual, towbar, tyres stil quite new. you can contact me via my email adress for more detail. also see http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...r/Dscn1021.jpg, i also have a printed set of engine and body workshop manuals (not hayns manual), Toyota workshop manuals. very handy to have for a overland trip and preperation
hope to hear from you soon

Renoster, you have mail.
Andy_Pag, that could be what I'm looking for, however SA is too far past the M25 to view ;-) I have visted your site before, hope you are enjoying the journey. Good Luck, Jim.

I've bought three H60s on ebay now, 1 great and 2 dogs!! things to look for in my experience are rust, rust and rust, in that order!!! most noticably around the spring hangers and body mounts. Also watch out for whining gearboxes. mine failed at 170000 miles after an africa trip. a previous ownder had used it extensively for towing so I don't know if that anything to do with it.
There are also some really nice H61s for sale in japan, which seem to rust less and often come with a winch, I can point you in the right direction if you wish.
Andy Pagg, nice truck!! enjoyed your website. how did the moggs fare on those hideous roads, should I spend my lottery winnings on my H60 or a mog!!!?
regards
Andy

thanks for that info bart, i read that particular thread . i have taken the stat out and it runs nice and cool but there still is a bit of pressure , iam a hgv mechanic for the last 18 years and i do think this pressure is to much unless this pressure is norm for these iam wondering if the head gasket has gone or maybe a cracked head, allso this 60 has no rust at all anywere, its just taty , i think it will be a nice truck with a paint job , what do you think of longer shakles and lenthening the sping hangers in order to lift it a few inches . its 1987 is it worth spending mony on
cheers

HJ60- could be interested
Hi 4wdtreck
I've had a look at the pics and could be interested. I am just trying to cost up an import because I wanted air/con if possible but the total price may be too steep - I suppose retro fitting a system may be an option. If you have any more pics I would like to see them. Can't reply yet by PM not enough posts.
Thanks
