History:
WE BOUGHT OUR LANDY SECOND HAND FROM A FAMILY FRIEND WHO USED TO CART HER TWO KIDS BETWEEN WHITE RIVER AND MOZAMBIQUE. THEY TOOK GREAT CARE OF HER AND EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD A LOT OF MILEAGE WHEN WE GOT HER, EVERYONE WE TOOK HER TO SAID SHE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. THEY SOLD HER BECAUSE THE WANTED TO UPGRADE TO A NEWER LAND ROVER. WHICH IS A GOOD SIGN.
WE BOUGHT HER TO TRAVEL THROUGH SOUTHERN AND EASTERN AFRICA FOR 5 MONTHS. FROM JUNE 2007 – NOV 2007. THEN WE GOT A JOB WORKING IN ZAMBIA MANAGING A BUSHCAMP IN THE SOUTH LUANGWA VALLEY. AND SHE CAME WITH US. ONE TRIP UP TO ZAMBIA AND BACK DOWN AGAIN.
WHILE IN THE SERENGETI ON OUR TRIP THROUGH AFRICA HER LINCAGE IN THE TRANSFER GEAR BOX BROKE. WE NEEDED A QUICK FIX AND A LOCAL WELDED IT FOR US. WHAT WE DID NOT DO WHEN WE GOT BACK TO ARUSHA WAS GET IT CHECKED AND WE PAID THE PRICE. IT WAS FINE FOR ALONG TIME BUT IN LUSAKA, LAST YEAR HER GEAR BOX AND TRANSFER GEAR BOX SIEZED. SO WE HAD A RECONDITIONED GEAR BOX PUT IN AND NEEDLESS TO SAY … SHE FEELS LIKE A NEW VEHICLE. HER ENGINE IS 100% AND HAS NEVER GIVEN US PROBLEMS. AND WE HAVE BEEN USING THE SAME 5L OIL SINCE WE GOT HER. SHE HAS NO LEAKS WHICH IS AMAZING ESPECIALLY FOR THE LAND ROVER. SADLY WE WANT TO SELL HER NOW AS WE HAVE MOVED HOME AND WE ARE SETTELING DOWN
WELL MAINTAINED, FULLY EQUIPPED, UNCOMPLICATED 4x4 IMMEDIATELY READY FOR YOUR SAFARI!

British Ownership
Hi,
Can a Brit buy a South African registered car without having a registered address there?
Thanks

I stand to be corrected if things have changed, but people have used "temporary" addresses such as friends or backpackers' places (with their permission) successfully in the past.

Great News. How much is your asking price? And do you know roughly how much money needs to be spent on it to get it roadworthy again?
Thanks

11,000 USD
Jungle - The vehicle is currently in Nelspruit - and from what I know - it is ready to roll. However I must say that there is someone else interested in it (John from my first post) - so as soon as I hear from him I'll get back to you.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
