Arrow Toyota Hilux/Surf 90,000Km - Ethiopia 20-30th November

  • 1998 Toyota Hilux Surf
  • 90,000km (jap import)
  • Raised suspension
  • 2 spare tyres
  • 2 fuel cans
  • Roof racks
  • Sunroof (good for game driving)
  • Shovel, chairs, table, fire extinguisher, compressor, axe
  • Much much more...

We are selling our dearly loved rig in Addis Ababa the last week of November. A very capable overlander, safari and highway vehicle with very low KMs. We purchased her in Gaborone, Botswana 10 weeks ago and traveled to Ethiopia without having a single issue (not even a flat tyre). We have driven this car on some of Africa's toughest roads and it handled them beautifully.

We are only asking for a fraction of what we paid. USD $5,000. Please contact us ASAP as there are other interested parties. :-)

Hello Andrew,

why "We are only asking for a fraction of what we paid" for only 10 weeks and a couple of thousand kilometer using? Is there something wrong with the car?
I would be interested, if it has a Diesel engine.

Greetings from Europe
Ferdi

Hey Ferdi.

Good question, the reason is documents (that old thorn) its registered in our name. Botswana registration, there are options to transfer the registration although they are limited.

The car is petrol sorry, we wanted the diesel although never found one we liked. Even so its been great, like I said it has not missed a beat and basically wont find anything that price/age with so few KMs.

:-)

hello Andrew, just seen this posted up on Steph's facebook page. I'm definitely interested but would love more info about the papers - what are the options available in terms of transferring ownership? I live in Tanzania and need a car for everyday life so this could potentially be a great fit! Also curious - what is the engine capacity please, number of previous owners and age of vehicle? thanks!

Nice to see a petrol-engined Surf. I think anyone buying it might like to know which model it is, i.e. 2.7l I4 or 3.4l V6. Also the transmission (manual or automatic).

I have one of these, a 2.7l manual and I love it. Much smoother and quieter than the diesel, and more power (though less torque). On a recent 23,000 km trip across Russia I had zero problems and got 10l / 100km on the highway. Great expedition vehicle for 1 or 2 people.

Thank you!

The car has been amazing. Not a single issue.

We choose the petrol engine (2.7L) as it saves ALLOT in fuel costs on a long journey. To be honest there it is very rare you need the extra power of a large Diesel engine in such a light car. We went through seriously heavy sand in the Kalahari NP and saw 4WDs with far larger engines get stuck where we sailed through.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
